How measuring on a PDF drawing works
A PDF measurement tool lets you calibrate a real-world scale on a PDF drawing and then click points directly on the page to get distances, areas, and perimeters in actual units — meters, feet, whatever the drawing uses — without needing the original CAD file or a copy of the software it was drawn in.
A PDF file has no built-in idea of scale; a floor plan and its wall might be drawn at any zoom level. This tool fixes that per page: click two points a known distance apart — a dimension line marked 3 meters, a door opening you know is 900mm — enter that real distance, and the page is calibrated. From there, switch to Distance mode for straight-line measurements or Area mode to trace a room or shape and get both its area and perimeter in one go. The page renders at a sharp, DPR-aware resolution so fine details on a busy drawing stay legible, you can zoom in for precise clicking or zoom back out to see the whole sheet, and a live preview line follows your cursor before you commit to a point so you can see exactly where a measurement will land. Made a wrong click? Undo just that point instead of starting the shape over. Every finished measurement gets a label right on the drawing, not just tucked away in a sidebar list, and you can copy a full summary — including running totals for the page — to the Clipboard Dashboard for pasting into an estimate or a set of notes. All of this runs on pdf.js rendering the page into a canvas in your own browser tab, so nothing about the drawing ever leaves your device.

The page auto-fits to your screen width so you're not scrolling sideways just to see the drawing, and you can pinch-zoom-style precision with the on-screen zoom buttons before tapping your points. That said, fine calibration work is still easier with a mouse or stylus than a fingertip, the same trade-off as any touch-based drawing tool.
You can copy a text summary of every measurement on the page — including the total distance and total area — to the site's Clipboard Dashboard with one tap, ready to paste into an estimate, email, or notes app. The tool doesn't currently burn the measurement lines into a downloadable annotated PDF.
No. The file is opened and rendered with a JavaScript PDF library running in your own browser tab, and every click, calibration, and measurement stays local to that tab — nothing is sent to a server.
